Vehicle to Everything (V2X), including Vehicle to Vehicle, Vehicle to Pedestrian, Vehicle to Infrastructure and Vehicle to Network, communication has drawn increasing attention as an enabling technology for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and the foundation towards 5G’s Ultra-Reliable-Low-Latency (URLLC) applications. Meanwhile, by delivering a high reliable and low-latency service, V2X can be applied to the rapid growing market of mission critical communications. To support ASTRI’s technology evolution, ASTRI plans to develop standard-compliant V2X Base Station (BS) and User Terminal (UE) reference design based on commercial SoC platforms, supporting : (i) V2X control signaling and multicasting (ii) BS sidelink control signaling (iii) Sidelink physical layer (iv) Sidelink autonomous scheduling The V2X features to be developed from this project can be applied to enable ITS and contribute to smart city development of Hong Kong. A number of companies have shown strong interests in collaborating with ASTRI and adopting our technologies to be developed from this project. Initially engaged customers include network infrastructure manufacturers, i.e., Guangzhou Shiju and Fujian Sunnada which is also a terminal vendor. Many other companies such as HBFEC and Hong Kong Telecom have also been in contact with ASTRI for possible technology transfer and collaboration through this project.
