Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of HKSAR, hosted a reception today for Hong Kong’s winners at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2018. With a total of 14 awards, ASTRI has been the most awarded institution from Hong Kong at this global showcase of technological innovation. Mrs Lam urged Hong Kong’s I&T community to leverage their collective strength – from the academia to R&D centres and I&T quangos to the industry – and seize existing and emerging opportunities. She stressed the importance of grooming technology talents and delivering value-added innovations to secure a bright future for Hong Kong in the local, national and global stage.
Held annually in Geneva, the International Exhibition of Inventions is recognised as the most revered and specialised event of its kind in the world. It attracts exhibitors from around the globe who showcase their inventions and innovations to a large global audience. For this year, there were 822 exhibitors and a thousand inventions on display in the Exhibition. A Hong Kong delegation comprising around 15 institutions and universities won 98 awards. Among them, ASTRI received three Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, eight Gold medals and three Silver medals. This remarkable feat made ASTRI one of the most awarded organisations among the Hong Kong exhibitors.
ASTRI remains committed to playing a strong part in that journey – leveraging the power of technology and the combined strength of the ecosystem.
