Description:

Since 2016, the ASTRI V2X team has been dedicated to research and development of the smart mobility plan for Hong Kong. The team setup the first V2X trial site in Shatin in 2019 and has since carried out continual experiments and studies on the site. With more and more infrastructure and connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs) installed, large volume of data is continuously generated in unprecedented variety and velocity. This project aims to investigate and implement a road-side and edge system to manage the ever-increasing data flow, and enable big data driven applications in the V2X system. In this project, the ASTRI V2X team will - Implement an advanced smart mobility road-side and edge system that enables automatic data collection and utilization, thus enabling learning-based use cases of the V2X system. - Investigate the mechanism for multi-tier data collection and processing scheduling according to dynamic communication, computation costs and networking architecture. - Implement critical regional safety and efficiency use cases based on the smart road-side and edge system. Eventually, the implemented modules of this project allow for mid- to long-term advanced and intelligent regional perception and decision applications in the V2X system. This project is key to the Hong Kong smart mobility roadmap.
