The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under four Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Trust and AI Technologies, Integrated Circuits and Systems, and IoT Sensing and AI Technologies.

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, Intelligent Manufacturing and Re-Industrialization, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Job Responsibilities

Assist in ITF R&D or contract service project as assigned
Support hardware development for sensing systems and devices involving optical and/or acoustic sensing techniques
Design and develop hardware, including electronics and firmware for hardware operation, software communication and system integration, as well as perform testing and optimization
Support in-house and on-site tests and validation for project delivery

Requirements

Ph.D. holder/Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or relevant Engineering disciplines.
Experiences in PCB Schematic & Layout design, and/or Embedded platform programming
Familiar with EDA software such as Altium/Cadence/PADS
Proficiency in programming with C/C++, C#, Python and/or other programming languages
Familiar with data processing & analysis or algorithms development is a plus
Knowledge on optical/acoustic sensing is a plus.
Good written and communication skills; strong team spirit and interpersonal skills; independent and responsible.
