LTE has been selected by most of the operators in the world as the evolution of their cellular networks. TD-LTE, which is one of the two modes defined in LTE, is not only widely accepted by worldwide operators but is also regarded as the evolution of China’s own 3G standard TD-SCDMA. In this full project, a dual-mode multi-band RFIC transceiver for TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA terminal would be developed supporting China 2300 - 2400 MHz, 2010 - 2025 MHz and 1880 - 1920 MHz bands. Key areas in TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA terminal RFIC transceiver implementation, such as MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), direct conversion architecture, low noise high linearity front-end, reconfigurable low pass filter, integrated Fractional-N PLL will be explored. A few MPW tapeouts have been planned to produce silicon verified IP. Reference design and TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA terminal RFIC transceiver IP will be delivered as the achievements of this project. This project will help Hong Kong to set up a technology leading role in China and create a competitive edge for local design houses, OEM and ODM manufacturers.
