37 ASTRI Interns Graduate with Fruitful Experience and Broadened Horizon

With nurturing future talents as one of the missions, ASTRI has welcomed a total of 37 interns this year from local and overseas universities namely The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Princeton University, University College London, University of Cambridge, The University of Oxford, Imperial College London, Boston University, San Diego State University and Purdue University. The selected interns who come from a diverse cultural background have worked on research projects that are related to ASTRI’s R&D initiatives and across headquarters’ functions.

After a 1.5 month all-round training, a graduation ceremony was held today whereby the interns were presented with certificates by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Frank Tong and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Ieong Meikei. They were also invited to present the projects they worked on during the internship. These included blockchain technologies, facial recognition & verification algorithm, applying data analytics skills to real life problems, LTE/LTE-A base station algorithm design, etc.

In his remarks, Dr. Frank Tong said he was very impressed with the performance of the interns and encouraged them to join the ASTRI family after their university education.
