The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) and the success of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems have pushed the horizon of a new computing service, namely Industrial IoT, which is the use of IoT technologies to enhance industrial processes. The project is to establish a platform with edge computing devices with Artificial Intelligence to recognize noises. Current practice of Environmental Protection Department to handle noise complaint cases is mostly passive and complaint-based. It consumes heavy human effort and is not responsive enough in certain time sensitive scenarios. Real-time noise monitoring is necessary for proactive and rapid response. Our proposed solution is to establish a communication platform to connect edge computing devices with sensors to monitor environmental noise. Automated with decentralized intelligence which helps monitor instances when noise is detected and classified.
