Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is one of the key enabling technologies for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Next generation "LE Audio" technology defined in Bluetooth 5.2 is a significant enhancement to the Bluetooth Core Specification to support audio streaming applications via BLE technology. According to ABI Research's forecast in 2019, over 1.27 billion BLE devices for audio streaming applications will be shipped in 2023, with 7% Compound Annual Growth Rate from 2019 to 2023. The key enablers for LE Audio technology are low power, low cost chip and audio streaming support. In this full project, critical and innovative technologies will be developed in direct modulation RF transmitter and low-IF single conversion RF receiver and high performance digital modem algorithm and circuit to achieve optimal power, cost and performance. This project will produce silicon proven next generation BLE SoC with reference design and demonstration. The project delivers a comprehensive set of IP portfolio and IC solution supporting next generation Bluetooth LE technology. This project advances the wireless technology capabilities of Hong Kong and Mainland China region and creates a competitive edge for local IC design houses, wireless connectivity solution vendors, OEM and ODM manufacturers.
