In the effort to implement smart city concept, the Lands Department (LandsD) was designated to create 3D indoor maps for a number of selected buildings. For future growth and success, there is a need of an effective IT system to manage the lifecycle of indoor maps, from initial preparation and inspection to release, amendment and maintenance. This project will develop a data stewardship platform for indoor spatial data with tools that effectively powered different phases of making and using indoor maps. The platform features a multiple-perspective self-inspection tool and includes a geospatial intelligent transformation service for multiple different output standards. In addition, the platform also features a floorplan extraction from semantic building model and indoor pedestrian network derivation, simplifying the production processes and reducing the effort required. The platform will also support 3D model reconstruction from indoor maps, in order to add immersive usage to 3D indoor map for more application usage. The goal of this project is to complement the LandsD’s 3D indoor map work in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness by reducing time and effort. The technology and know-how developed in this project will be transferred to LandsD during the project period.
