5G NR (New Radio) is designed to enable high data rate and low latency wireless communications applications. However, new 5G networks need spectrum bands to operate on and involve major capital investments to build new infrastructures as well as to phase out existing 4G networks. Spectrum sharing is one effective approach towards exploiting new spectrum bands as well as to reduce the technical and financial overheads for 5G network rollout. This project will investigate new techniques for NR-U (NR based access to unlicensed spectrum), NR/LTE DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing), and multi-operator radio sharing. New 5G spectrum sharing base station Physical (PHY) Layer reference design and corresponding test infrastructure will be developed to support the new techniques.
