Description:

Data exchanges play an essential role in data utilization and the digital economy. However, currently the exchanges still involve substantial manual and piecemeal workflows. In this project, we aim to develop technologies related to the valuation and simulation for data exchanges, thereby enhancing the transparency and reliability of the exchange platform. The main R&D methodologies include developing a self-supervised interpretable pricing model for data products, a reinforcement-learning-based simulation platform for more systematic validation of pricing models on exchanges, a sandboxed data exchange platform to test software changes before deployment more systematically, and a training platform for data exchange practitioners. This project aligns well with and could contribute to the government's plan to develop Hong Kong into an advanced international data hub. We collaborate with other stakeholders to help build a more vibrant data exchange ecosystem, including BDI (粵港澳大灣區大數據研究院) which was founded by the State Information Center (國家信息中心), Zhengzhou Data Exchange Center (鄭州數據交易中心), and have been in contact with Hong Kong-focused stakeholders such as Digital Policy Office. The technologies developed in this project could contribute to the advancement of data exchange technology in Hong Kong.
