Extended Reality (XR), which refers to all combined augmented reality and virtual reality environments with real-time man-machine interactions, has become one of the top technological trends for supporting the rise of Metaverse, in which spatial computing and human interface are two major layers still in early development stage. Many important technical aspects have not been systematically explored, such as how to connect the digital twins of physical space & objects or connect the processes & people between virtual and real worlds, and how to efficiently perform human-machine/human-human interactions. As such lots of valuable enterprise XR applications cannot be implemented. In this project, we will focus on development of a technology platform to address the above challenges and help to enable remote and multi-user enterprise applications. More particularly, we will leverage state-of-the-art spatial computing artificial intelligence (AI), for example, 3D scene reconstruction, 3D semantic segmentation, etc., to develop new technology cores, namely, Immersive Telepresence, Multi-user Collaboration, and XR Space Management. The outcomes of this project help to push the development of 3D-vision technology as well as commercialization of enterprise XR applications, and thereby helps local enterprises in digital transformation as well as the development of smart cities.
