China has become a major automobile production country, producing more than 25 million vehicles every year. As an important safety auxiliary device, ultrasonic radar system plays an important role in automotive industry. Although transducer and other structural parts have realized domestic replacement, ultrasonic sensor chips still 100% rely on import. The critical IPs for ultrasonic sensor SoC are monopolized by foreign companies, seriously affected the development of China’s automobile industry. This project is going to develop the mixed signal IP portfolio for automotive ultrasonic sensor SoC (system on chip). The planned IP blocks include ASP (analog signal processing), DSP (digital signal processing), ADA (analog data acquisition), BRG (burst generation), and TDR (transducer driver). The project objectives include: 1) to breakthrough calibration technology to address unstable transmission issue caused by chip temperature variation, aging and environmental factor changes 2) to breakthrough echo detection algorithm, establish ASTRI’s core competency in ultrasonic sensor SoC field, and 3) in line with the national chip strategy, realize domestic substitution of ultrasonic radar chips by transferring technology to the industry. The research methodology combining theoretical analysis and experimental verification will be used throughout the project. The IP performance will be analyzed and optimized through circuit simulation, and the IP functionalities will be silicon-proved through foundry’s test chips.
