Description:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has already made a significant impact across various industries, including manufacturing and logistics. By utilizing AI technologies, companies have been able to streamline their processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency. However, despite these benefits, current AI systems are not equipped to handle the dynamic and constantly changing nature of the industrial environment, leading to decreased performance over time if the entire systems are not retrained or modified periodically. This is where the concept of lifelong learning AI comes into play. The project aims to develop and implement a lifelong learning platform for AI systems in smart manufacturing and logistics. The platform will enable AI systems to update incrementally as new data becomes available in an efficient and effective manner, thus improving their performance and adaptability over time. Three main functions will be developed to handle most of the dynamic changing industrial environment: (1) data incremental which will allow AI systems to be quickly implemented and continuously improved over time; (2) class incremental which will provide scalable AI systems for new tasks or classes; and (3) domain incremental which will enable the continuous improvement of AI systems to adapt to distribution changes in production. By implementing lifelong AI learning, companies can ensure that their AI systems remain up-to-date and effective, leading to more sustainable and efficient production processes, increased productivity, and ultimately, better business outcomes.
