Seminar: The Changing Landscape in US Patent Law and Strategies For Meeting the New Challenges

Sweeping changes in U.S. law have dramatically altered the legal landscape for technology companies. These changes include recent U.S. Supreme Court cases and the implementation of the America Invents Act (AIA). In the aftermath of the Alice Supreme Court case, there are new limits on the types of subject matter that are eligible for patent protection in the U.S. With the patent post-grant procedures implemented under the AIA, potential infringers have a powerful new tool to avoid patent infringement liability. These developments have created new challenges for companies seeking to protect their technology with patents and enforce their patents when infringement is observed.

To combat these challenges, new patent protection strategies are needed, as well as new approaches for effectively preparing companies that are considering patent enforcement to be in the best position possible to assert their patents against infringers. Our presenters will review the changes in the law and discuss best practices and strategies for meeting these challenges of the new legal landscape.
