TD-LTE Terminal Baseband Core Technologies
Technology Overview
ASTRI’s TD-LTE terminal baseband core technologies include the physical layer and lower MAC layer reference design on prototype hardware, which contains programmable devices such as FPGA, DSP and CPU.
High-Level Technology Specifications
- Compliant to LTE 3GPP Release 8 standard
- Multiple bandwidth: 20 MHz, 15 MHz, 10 MHz, and 5 MHz
- MIMO technologies: Tx-div, 2x2 MIMO, 4x2 MIMO and beam-forming
- Peak data rates: 100 Mbps on downlink and 50 Mbps on uplink
- Common architecture for TDD and FDD
Reference Design Scope
- Algorithms and architecture design
- Physical layer and lower MAC layer implementation on prototype hardware
- Validated through IOT (inter-operability testing) with commercial TD-LTE base stations when integrated with industry partner’s RF solution and protocol stacks

- Successfully licensed TD-LTE terminal baseband core reference design to Innofidei, a leading IC design company on the Mainland
- Assisted Innofidei in taping out the world’s first TD-LTE terminal baseband SoC, which China Mobile put on show in its TD-LTE deployment at the Shanghai World Expo
- Completed IOT using TD-LTE data cards containing the world’s first baseband SoC with base stations from three global tier-one infrastructure vendors
