ASTRI's Photonic Components Team develops leading-edge optical devices for modern information technology. Our products include low-cost fiber optic transceivers for short-distance optical networks, high-speed large area MSM photodetectors, and smart optical sensors. Our devices can be applied in automotive, industrial control, home networking, and data communication.

Fiber Optics Transceivers are developed using low-cost lead-frame and plastic molding technologies. The VCSEL fiber optic transmitter is based on 850nm emission wavelength for PCS fiber solution, while the green LED transmitter is based on 520nm emission wavelength for POF interconnect solutions. The stability of output power at ambient temperature enables tighter transmitter power specification.

High-speed MSM Photodetector is fabricated from Photodetector chips on 4" GaAs wafer. Its data rates can reach 3.2Gbit/s and it is ideal for 200/300£gm/1mm PCS/POF links. The relaxation of coupling tolerances allows automation of alignment process and hence lower the receiver cost.

Optical switch is our recent development in the smart optical sensors area. It is a touchless switch which can be applied to the switch buttons of elevators and appliances, keyboards for industrial control and instrumentation, optical touch pads, etc.

Other developments on optical sensors include distance sensing and pressure sensor.
