由於全球人口老化和生活方式的改變,有相當數量的人患有慢性疾病,需要家庭護理和長期護理服務。在香港,有大約70萬糖 尿病患者。其中只有約40 萬患者被識別。未經監控的糖尿病是致命的,因為它會導 致心血管併發症和腎臟問題。此外,患有糖尿病的兒童數量在過去10年間增加了10倍。有效的血糖水平管理對保持患者健康至關重要,亦可避免其他慢性疾病的發生。目前最迫切的是在症狀出現之前作檢測,篩選出患有糖尿病或前期糖尿病的患者。醫生建議糖尿病患者養成自我血糖監測的習慣。但目前侵入式的血糖測量方法,令公眾對定期檢測血糖産生了心理障礙,並為糖尿病患者及家人帶來經濟負擔。 在這個項目中,我們的目標是設計和開發一種可作非侵入式血糖測量的嵌入式光學系統。用戶可以很容易使用該非侵入性的設備,即時地測量血糖。該設備可用 於篩選前期糖尿病患者及給糖尿病患者作頻繁的血糖測量。
