ASTRI Summer Internship Programme 2024
The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1400 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1000 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.
Programme Details
ASTRI Summer Internship Programme offers you a golden opportunity to learn from award-winning scientists in a cross-cultural environment. This is an 8-week programme between June and August 2024 that is targeted to undergraduate and postgraduate students majoring in STEM disciplines.
Through the internship, you will acquire hands-on experience in one of our six Technology Divisions (TD) and/or Core Competency Groups (CCG) – they form the cornerstones of the Information and Communications Technologies R&D Centre (ICT RDC) initiated by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Technology Divisions / Core Competency Groups:- Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies (AITT)
- Advanced Electronic Components and Systems (AECS)
- Communications Technologies (CT)
- IoT Sensing and AI Technologies (IOTSAI)
- Innovative Mind (INM)
- Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS)
- Undergraduate and Postgraduate STEM students who will graduate in 2024, 2025, or 2026
- Enthusiastic in exploring a career in a research institute
- Creative, open-minded, visionary, and interested in the Innovation and Technology (I&T) industry
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Application is open between 1 November 2023 to 31 January 2024 on a rolling basis
