Transportable base
station for emergency
communications

Access to reliable communications services is a key factor in any emergency situation. ASTRI has succeeded in producing a mobile base station that allows for cost-efficient, low-latency, and stable mission-critical mobile broadband communications for emergency services.

The Inventions Geneva-backed transportable base station (TBS) supports various applications, including group calls and video surveillance often critical to rescue services. It can function in all types of environments and even in areas with poor network coverage.

The award-winning design allows the TBS to scan through a range of radio frequencies to detect nearby base stations and adjust its station frequency and timing to minimise mutual interference. Meanwhile multi-antenna signal processing technology greatly increases transmission and reception reliability while its compact size permits flexible local network deployment.

The real-life applications of the ASTRI TBS are critical in saving lives, most valuable in situations where time is limited, resources stretched, and when most digital communications have failed.

Future applications can go beyond rescue technology. With 5G networks, TBS can deal with various communications network challenges and requirements more flexibly. One such example includes wireless connection through closed-loop systems for higher stability, such as for use in industrial automation.

After all, it is only with this sense of stability and security that communities can grow and cities can prosper.
