We are pleased to announce the appointment of two senior leaders joining ASTRI: Dr Ying Huang as our Chief Technology Officer and Ir Chris Chong as our Chief Operating Officer.

Dr Huang is an expert in information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and decision sciences. Ir Chong has extensive expertise across various engineering sectors, including energy, construction, and facilities management. Both have over 30 years of experience in strategy, operations, and management.

SHINE AT INNOCARNIVAL

ASTRI showcased a range of its pioneering technologies at InnoCarnival, raising public awareness of innovation and technology (I&T). Visitors to ASTRI’s state-of-the-art booth experienced:

• Test-driving a Formula A virtual racing car; 
• Using an internationally award-winning gemstone identifier to distinguish real diamonds from imitations; 
• Embarking on a treasure hunt in a complete darkness with a robotic guide dog; and
• Wearing an optical see-through head-mounted display (HMD) to participate in a virtual pharmacy interactive game as a pharmacist. 

ASTRI PROMOTES SMART MOBILITY TECHNOLOGIES AT AUTUMN ELECTRONICS FAIR

With smart mobility taking centre stage at this year’s Electronics Fair, ASTRI hosted a seminar titled “Navigating Tomorrow: How Connected Autonomous Vehicles Reshape Industries”, where industry leaders shared insights into the future of autonomous driving, including market potential and associated challenges. Speaking at the seminar, ASTRI’s Acting CEO and Chief Operating Officer, Ir Chris Chong, highlighted how autonomous vehicle (AV) technology mitigates human error and driving misconduct, thus enhancing road safety.

ASTRI AND CITYBUS SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

ASTRI and Citybus Limited (Citybus) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and development projects focused on autonomous driving and Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology. These projects will include live road tests along the Hong Kong Science Park to University MTR Station route and within the Kai Tak Development Area. This collaboration aims to establish a cost-effective, world-class smart mobility solution, further enhancing Hong Kong’s well-regarded public transportation system. 

ASTRI SUPPORTS MALAYSIAN MANUFACTURING TRANSFORMATION

ASTRI has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) to support the digital transformation of Malaysia’s diversified industries. The MoC, signed in November, leverages ASTRI’s proprietary smart manufacturing technologies to modernise FMM members’ operations. This partnership aligns with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) launched in September 2023, which seeks to enhance industrial capacity and resilience for long-term, sustainable growth through technology-aided transformation of some 3,000 smart factories.

TRIPARTITE COLLABORATION PROMOTES AI+ INDUSTRY 

ASTRI has entered into a strategic cooperation memorandum with the Shenzhen Luohu District People's Government and the International OpenCity Community (OCC) Lab. The partnership focuses on "AI+ Industry" initiatives, including cross-border data and transaction technologies, FinTech, and generative artificial intelligence.

BEIJING-HONG KONG COOPERATION TO DEVELOP MILLIMETRE-WAVE MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY 

ASTRI has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Beijing Zhongcheng Kangfu Technology Co., Ltd, a Chinese company specialising in the production of millimetre-wave medical devices. This partnership represents a significant step towards advancing millimetre-wave medical technology. The collaboration focuses on digital health, big data, and AI, enabling innovative solutions to be applied in real-world scenarios.

ESTABLISH THE GBA INTERCONNECTED INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION – JOINT INNOVATION LABORATORY

ASTRI (Shenzhen) and China Merchants New Intelligence have signed a cooperation agreement to establish the "Greater Bay Area Interconnected Intelligent Transportation – Joint Innovation Laboratory" in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone. This initiative seeks to enhance transportation connectivity between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, aligning with the "Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area". 

At the “Hong Kong ICT Awards 2024”, ASTRI won four accolades, including two Bronze Awards and two Certificates of Merit, across the categories of "Smart Mobility", "Smart Living", and "FinTech". The award-winning solutions integrate cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, advanced chips, and a Federated Learning Platform, driving transformative impacts in smart transport, smart healthcare, and FinTech. These achievements reflect ASTRI's unwavering dedication to meaningful innovation. Looking ahead, ASTRI will continue to harness pioneering technologies to benefit society and drive Hong Kong’s development into a smarter city.

ASTRI’s Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies team received the prestigious "Banking Tech of the Year" award at the Asia FinTech Awards 2024 in Singapore. This accolade highlights ASTRI’s success in driving FinTech innovation and advancing the industry.

ASTRI achieved remarkable success at the "41st Anniversary Gala Dinner Cum 10th STAR Awards Presentation Ceremony”, hosted by the Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK). ASTRI earned three silver and one bronze awards for its cutting-edge solutions that empower businesses with digital transformation and enhance smart management efficiency. ASTRI Summer Internship Programmes
Nurture I&T Talents

ASTRI successfully concluded its “Summer Internship Programme” and “Fintech Future Leader Academy (Internship)” on 16 August, providing exceptional opportunities for budding talents in the I&T sector.  From over 3,000 applicants, 110 interns from prestigious universities worldwide were selected to participated in an eight-week immersive work experience.
