New OCR Invention to Reach Digitisation Goal
The world is going paperless. Choosing the right tool can make the digitisation of documents effortless, such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. But existing OCR technology is often unable to recognise text in a document without first knowing the exact layout of data fields. Text extracted from tables without border lines is usually jumbled together.
ASTRI has developed a new OCR technology that leverages AI to build efficient document processing and reduce manpower costs. The intelligent scanning system can automatically locate and categorise data fields by recognising symbols featured in texts. It applies AI to understand text by extracting semantic information from characters, words phrases, text lines and cells. It can also correct distortions in scanned documents, greatly reducing manpower and minimising the risk of human error.
