社交网路随身机专案的目标是提供一个开放的移动互联网应用平臺以促进互联网即将到来的从Web 2.0时代到移动Web 2.0时代的演进。本专案首要的目标将著重在社交网路服务应用的研发。 在从Web 2.0到移动Web 2.0的转换中的主要问题和挑战在於如何给用户提供好的移动互联网体验并满足用户新的需求（例如：可以随时随地的与朋友保持线上连接，迅速的扩大社交圈子， 提供类个人电脑的互联网体验。） 本专案中将会研发下列的技术和平臺： 1. 采用开放的嵌入式Linux作业系统 (Maemo 或 Android) 作为通用的开发平臺 2. 支援互联网主流多媒体编解码技术以实现无转码的下载和播放 3. 互联网服务包中整合了最流行的互联网服务模组，用以提供在移动设备上定制Web 2.0服务用户端的能力并克服移动设备固有的限制如较小的液晶显示萤幕 4. 模组化的资源管理功能提供了对移动设备有限资源（例如：CPU 处理能力，电池电源等）的集中式管理，并整合进了平臺以提供移动设备用户类个人电脑的体验 5. 移动P2P技术用以扩展社交网路服务和内容分享的能力。
