LTE-AGW Development ------------------------------- Phase A1A – Research and Specifications of LTEAGW Purpose: to research the LTE standards specifications with focus on LTE access network and it entities and to define the detailed system requirement specifications for LTEAGW. Deliverables: - LTE-AGW System Specifications - LTE-AGW High Level Design Phase A1B – Basic LTE-AGW Functions Purpose: to build the control plane with the basic functionality (network entry & exit) Deliverables: (Detailed Design, Software Deliverable), support these scenarios/features: o Network Entry and Exit Workflow o User Authentication o QoS Assignments o Data Path Establishments o Per-data flow traffic statistics Phase A1C – System Integration Purpose: to perform system integration within LTE access network: between the deliverable and with other LTE entities (with HSS server, PCRF, eNodeB or simulators), based on Phase 1B features Deliverable: - System Integration Test Plan - System Integration Test Reports Phase A2A – Mobile Handover Features Purpose: to handle Handover functionality Deliverable: Detailed Design, Software Deliverable handling: o handover o Idle mode and paging Phase A2B – System Integration: Purpose: to perform system integration within LTE access network with other LTE entities (with HSS server, PCRF, eNodeB or simulators), based on Phase 1B features Deliverables: - System Integration Test Plan - System Integration Test Reports Phase A2C – Performance & Robustness Purpose: to perform further integration and system testing to evaluate the system capacity, system throughput Deliverables: - System performance test reports LTE-AGW Network Management ----------------------------------------- Phase M1A – Management Features and Interface Research Purpose: to research the LTE access network management features and interfaces Deliverables: - Research report of LTE access network management Phase M1B – Management Interfaces of LTEAGW Purpose: to build the management agents for LTEAGW Deliverables: (Detailed Design and Software ) - Agents: Command Line (CLI) and Telnet agent, HTTP agent, SNMP agent, SNMP MIB - Features: configuration, status and statistics

LTE(長期演進)定義了未來4G無線通信標準,提供基於IP的服務,並能保證服務質量(QoS)及無縫移動。除了為UE和eNodeB定義的空中接口外,3GPP在規範中還定義了接入網的架構。 LTE還提出了高數據吞吐率和用戶容量的要求(例如,每個基站可提供100Mbps和支持數百個用戶)。可以預計每個用戶所佔用的數據帶寬增加的同時,服務計劃將能提供更低的每MB收費甚至為高用量用戶提供包月收費。 現有的用於部署3G/HSPA數據業務的網絡架構有很多問題,無法遷移到LTE: • 包含很多網元的複雜架構,帶來很高的網絡成本和網絡延時; • 有限的吞吐率; • 擴展成本高。 因此,3GPP標準提出了演進分組系統(EPS),包含了LTE的演進接入網架構。 LTE技術的發展給中型技術公司帶來了很多機會。不少中型公司已經有了LTE基站(eNodeB)的開發計劃, 與其 LTE的基地台宏(稱為 eNodeB的),他們可以發展為規模較小的基站,微微蜂窩 / femotcell解決利基市場。然而對他們來說,要贏得競爭並且賣給第二層LTE網絡運營商,必須提供低成本且完整的演進分組系統,包括eNodeB,接入網網元和網絡管理系統。中型公司有很多優勢,如成本優勢,在市場上有很大的潛力。 該項目旨在幫助這些中等規模公司,通過提供本項目開發產品的許可證,讓他們可以快速開發出他們自己的LTE EPS解決方案。本項目成果將包括具成本效益的可擴展的控制平面,數據平面和管理平面的LTE接入網設備軟件的。這將大大降低購買許可者的研發成本、研發風險和銷售的資本支出。 項目團隊從CWMS和WiMAX ASN-GW項目積累而來的經驗、知識和框架為項目提供了堅實的基礎。同時,已經獲得了WiMAX ASN-GW的許可證的一家香港上市公司,正在與項目團隊密切磋商購買所開發技術的許可證。
