    In this full project, a baseband core for TD-LTE Terminal would be developed. Key areas in TD-LTE Terminal implementation, such as MIMO spatial multiplexing, RI&PMI&CQI estimation, cell search & timing estimation for LTE, channel estimation in time and frequency domain, Doppler estimation, power delay profile estimation and noise variance estimation will be explored. Reference designs and TD-LTE Terminal baseband core IP will be delivered as the achievements of this project. Along with these, the wireless communication R&D talents trained in this project will benefit the local as well as greater China industry in strengthening their competitiveness in the world market. This project will have significant impacts and benefits to the local industry. LTE has been selected by most of the operators in the world as the evolution of their cellular networks. It represents a huge market with more than 3 billion users. TD-LTE, which is one of the two modes defined in LTE, is not only widely accepted by worldwide operators but is also regarded as the evolution of China’s own 3G standard i.e. TD-SCDMA by China Government and China Mobile who would provide fully support. China Government has planned to put huge investment in the following 10+ years to enable Chinese companies to capture 50% domestic market and 10% international market which is almost 0% now. This project would develop world-leading TD-LTE terminal baseband core. Early availability of this core will help Hong Kong to set up a technology leading role in China and create a competitive edge for local design houses, equipment venders and OEM/ODM manufacturers and help them to have an excellent position in TD-LTE China and world market
