The coming wave of Flat Panel Display (FPD) and LCD market has been identified from “CRT replacement” to “new value creation” and “new market creation”. This project aims to develop novel intelligent display technologies platform and target for digital signage display market. Through the intelligent display technologies platform we will develop the “personalized advertising display system” to create additional value, competitiveness, new market application for digital signage display. In the project the major targeted deliverables will focus on to develop personalized advertising display system. The personalized advertising display system will develop & integrate the below platform technologies, included: (1). Ultra-thin double sided LED backlight technology to develop novel ultra-thin double sided digital signage display platform; (2). Ambient adaptive video image processing for power saving and readability enhancement; (3). intelligent audience analysis (IAA) system to real-time detect and analyze audience intention & information (e.g. age, gender & others) and based on the results to display the right content at right time for the right person to enhance the advertising effect and to create new application for digital signage display market. The project promotes the technology to transfer to industry, as well as tighten the collaboration between industry and universities in Hong Kong. ASTRI will collaborate with university and HK/PRD/China industry partners to continue to develop innovative, high quality and low cost display systems.
