LED market will grow rapidly in lighting, display backlights and automotive applications in the next 3-5 years. It was $4.2 billion in 2006 and is expected to reach $9 billion by 2011. General lighting and automotive applications are the key applications to drive these growth. Additional growth will come from expanding use of driver ICs in single-color and full-color outdoor signs as well as the emerging application of LED backlights for LCD TVs. Finally, general lighting applications will constitute a major growth of high power LED drivers, as HB LEDs move from niche lighting applications into general illumination. The semiconductor industry has the opportunity to participate in the market transformation of illumination technologies to more energy efficient HB-LEDs. They need integrated analog driver technologies to succeed. Thus its growth creates big opportunity for LED driver ICs. Our goal in this project is to provide platform for all key driver applications. This project aims to develop an integrated driver solution for LED SSL for high performance and low cost than LED driver technology available today.
