2 new technical projects in adaptive block transform, intra and inter prediction to standard bodies per year. 8 patents for the duration of the project • 1 patent in adaptive block transform • 5 patents in intra and inter prediction • 2 patents in encoder algorithms For each new compression coding tool • software demo with reference software • performance analysis (simulation result) • hardware complexity analysis • encoding algorithm optimization

The main objective of this project is to develop new compression coding tools for future multimedia standards in collaborating with four Hong Kong Universities (CityU, CUHK, PolyU and HKUST). The deliverables of this project include 8 strategic IPs. Each IP will be implemented and integrated with the reference software. Simulation result and hardware complexity analysis will be provided. Encoding algorithmic optimization will be supplied if encoding decision is needed to fully utilize the IPs. Once our IPs are accepted into the standard’s patent pool, we will receive a portion of the licensing fee required by the standard bodies for companies deploying standard based products, As multimedia standard based products are shown successful, such licensing fee will provide a long term income for ASTRI.
