This project aims to develop DTMB Single Frequency Network (SFN) synchronization core technology and deployment methodologies, and IPs under the framework of ASTRI-Tsinghua Multimedia Broadcasting & Communications R&D Lab. By leveraging and combining wireless communication technical strength in Communications Technologies Group at ASTRI and Digital Terrestrial Mobile Broadcasting expertise of DTV R&D Center at Tsinghua University, the Joint Lab will establish foundation and framework to engage close collaboration in a series of near term and strategic research and development programs. The SFN project is identified as one of the near term core programs. The project will design and build a prototype of the adaptor required for SFN synchronization, and the prototype will be integrated in the system for verification. SFN deployment methodologies will be also generated for the DTMB network. The technology developed will offer SFN technologies and viable deployment solutions to service providers such as TVB and ATV. A number of equipment vendors, including Broadcast Technology Ltd. (Hong Kong), Beijing Gigamega Electronics Co,. Ltd. and Chengdu Xinguang Microwave Co,. Ltd., have also demonstrated their specific interests in the adaptor technology to be developed in the project.
