This project proposes to design a diagnostic MR Elastography device (palpategram) system – a medical screening system using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to examine the stiffness or elasticity of human organs; and perform clinical test on animal subjects. The palpategram system will include an in-house design controller, smart post-processing software, display and monitor embedded with novel features such as easy-to-setup, easy-to-use, good reliability, durability and sensitivity as well as artifact free in animal subjects. The main applications of palpategram are for the early detection of cirrhosis of the liver, and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) at early stage, which typically required the measurement of stiffness or elasticity characteristics of tissues.
