ASTRI cooperates with Delphi on development of intelligent digital display applications for automobiles

  • Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) is working with Delphi’s Infotainment & Driver Interface team in China on advanced research and development of intelligent digital display applications for automobiles.

ASTRI and Delphi have set up a Delphi-ASTRI Digital Optical Simulations Joint Laboratory to focus on research and development of advanced digital optical technologies including quantum dot laser light source, phase modulators based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) panels, 2D holographic projector modules, and computer generated holography (CGH) algorithm in vehicle augmented reality (AR) display and sensing systems.

The applications of these technologies include, among others, spatial light modulator (SLM) and its driving system, 2D laser holographic projection engine, portable head-up display, optical films, optical parts and systems of vehicle-mounted diffractive and holographic display, holographic imaging algorithm, holographic sensing system, and eye-sensing and analyzing optical systems design.

From infotainment to driving assistance, road safety to performance tracking, intelligent display systems are fast becoming an integral and distinguishing part on automobiles.

Delphi Automotive PLC is a high-technology company that integrates safer, greener and more connected solutions for the automotive sector. Headquartered in Gillingham, U.K., Delphi operates technical centers, manufacturing sites and customer support services in 46 countries.
