ASTRI Announces Departure of Chief Executive Officer

  • [Hong Kong, 21 Jun 2017] The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI) today (21 June 2017) announced that Dr Franklin Tong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will leave ASTRI upon completion of his current contract on 30 June 2017.

    Dr Tong joined ASTRI on 1 July 2014 and took up the CEO position on 1 September 2014. In announcing Dr Tong’s departure, the Chairman of ASTRI, Mr Wong Ming-yam said, “The Board would like to thank Dr Tong for his leadership and outstanding contribution over the past three years, building up ASTRI’s research capabilities, strengthening collaboration with industry and universities, and driving ASTRI in the pursuit of R&D outcomes.”

    During his tenure, Dr Tong has made great efforts in strengthening ASTRI’s research competence.  ASTRI has also established a number of joint laboratories in collaboration with industrial partners and universities to facilitate its research and talent development initiatives.

    “We wish Dr Tong every success in his future endeavours,” added Mr Wong.

    ASTRI will soon initiate a global search for a new CEO.
