The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under four Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Trust and AI Technologies, Integrated Circuits and Systems, and IoT Sensing and AI Technologies.

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, Intelligent Manufacturing and Re-Industrialization, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred over 800 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 900 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with Customers, Partners and internal technical teams to design Solution Architecture for Enterprise customer digital transformation and provide technical guidance
  • Present System design strategy, concepts, and roadmap to technical leaders in the customer’s organization or internal R&D team
  • Lead System integration for complicated digital transformation projects
  • Lead proof of concept or pilot implementations of the System within key customer accounts
  • Help promote skills and experience through development of repeatable assets, such as, methodologies, work models, tools, patents, knowledge articles etc.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or relevant disciplines
  • With a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Candidates with fewer experience will be considered as Senior Engineer or Engineer
  • Consultative customer-facing enterprise architecture experience
  • Solid experience on Cloud-based Solution development and implementation
  • Proficient knowledge on Cloud Computing technologies, experience in designing and building solutions on a cloud platform (such as AWS), covering container/k8s services, serverless architectures, networking and security, APIs, elasticity and availability, database services, monitoring, cloud native integration
  • Hands-on experience deploying to private and Cloud infrastructure (VMware, AWS, etc.), including cloud migration
  • Familiar with programming languages, like C++/Java/Python, is preferred
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows architecture and tools
  • Understanding of key DevOps concepts and tools (automation, CICD, configuration management, serverless architecture)
  • Understanding with key web, networking, storage, security protocols (HTTP(S), TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, AD/LDAP, NFS, SAN, NAS, etc.)
  • Systematic thinking capability is required
  • Good command of both written/spoken English and/or Chinese

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental benefits, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
