Anti-shaking Compact Camera Module (CCM)
The world’s smallest anti-shaking actuator for CCM up to 5M pixels was developed in January 2009. The CCM is sized 8.5×8.5×6.8 mm3 and embedded with auto-focus function. By 2010, eight US patents were filed with two already granted. MPT licensed these home-grown anti-shaking compact camera module technologies to and helped form the AP Photonics Limited (APP), a Hong Kongbased company newly established in 2010 intending to tap into the global camera phone market.
Auto-Focus Compact Camera Module
This novel chip-scale actuator developed for various advanced auto-focus compact camera modules has the following features:
- CCM size at 1.3M pixels: 5.5×6.0×4.9 mm3
- CCM size at 3M pixels: 6.8×6.8×5.6 mm3
- Supports resolution up to 5M pixels
- Low cost (50% saving compared to conventional Bill of Material cost)
- Four US patents have been fi led by 2010

Compact Optical Zoom Camera
This project focuses on integrating lens module and actuator into a 3X Zoom CCM for mobile phone applications. The CCM size will be greatly reduced and novel design of magnet-yoke will be delivered to eliminate magnetic interference between actuators. The target size of this camera is 50% smaller than the existing products in the market. One US patent has been filed by 2010.
