ASTRI's Strategy

In September 2004 ASTRI commenced a five-year strategic plan which sets the course to build a technology center that will consistently produce market leading-edge information and communications technologies and nurture human resources for Hong Kong to play a significant role in Greater China's coming technological ascent. The plan calls for ASTRI to execute the following three strategic actions:

ƒÜ¡E Establish a human resource edge
ƒÜ¡E Build world-class core technology platforms and market leading-edge applications
ƒÜ¡E Become a totally customer-focused research institution

The objective is for ASTRI to become one of the Region's most influential applied research institutions by  continuously  producing  a  substantial  volume  of  differentiating  intellectual

properties, and transfer them cost-effectively to the ascending local technology industries of Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta and China, so that they would possess the needed intellectual property bases to compete successfully both in the expanding China market and on the world stage. By achieving these goals we expect to position Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta as a vital driving force for the technological future of all of China.

As a research institution, ASTRI's R&D activities will focus on four closely interrelated technological domains - IC designs, Wireless Communications, Enterprise & Consumer Electronics and Material & Packaging Technologies. By engaging our research work in these innovative and knowledge-intensive fields, we will strive not only to excel as an impact-driven applied research institution but also provide the best and most challenging learning and growth experience for our employees.
