ASTRI was invited by Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to jointly organise a workshop on Mobile TV and Digital TV (DTV) at the HKPC Building on 15 and 16 October 2009. The two-day workshop was conducted by Mr Peter Chu, Principal Engineer of DTV System; Dr Chow Yuk-ching, Principal Engineer of the DTV program; and Dr Pan Zhengang, Manager of System/Algorithm team of Multi-Mode Mobile TV. All three experts are from the Communications Technologies Group.
During the workshop, Dr Chow gave an introduction of China's Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast (DTMB) Standard. Mr Chu complemented by discussing the DTMB markets and applications with special focus on the deployment of Digital TV in Hong Kong, drawing comparison between the MFN and SFN transmission networks. Dr Pan elaborated further on the technologies of Digital TV and Mobile TV. They together provided an overview of the DTMB standard and mobile TV standards and technologies to twenty-eight leading professionals from the mobile industry and government departments.
This is the second time ASTRI co-organised the workshop with HKPC. The last one presented in July received enthusiastic response.
