  ASTRI ARM9E MPEG-4 HE-AAC Audio Decoder

Processor
ARM ARM9E family and above with DSP extensions

Background
MPEG-4 HE-AAC (High Efficiency AAC) is one of the audio coding tools specified in MPEG ISO/IEC 14496-3, Part3 Audio. The Spectral Band Replication (SBR) technique is used to encode the high-band audio spectrum in order to achieve the same audio quality with almost half the bitrate compared with MPEG-4 AAC.

Standard Features
Decodes MPEG-4 HE-AAC and AAC-LC bitstreams
Supported sampling frequencies (Hz): 48K, 44.1K, 32K, 16K
Provides mono and stereo decoding

ASTRI Specific Features
Implements the LP (Low Power) mode for low-complexity requirements
Allows multiple decoder instances
Provides information on bitrate, sampling rate and number of channels after each successful decoding frame
Provides API for streaming application
Accepts raw HE-AAC and AAC-LC streams from MPEG-4 audio container
Memory requirements: 180KByte (Program and Data)
OS compatibility: Embedded Linux (Monta Vista, Candenux), Non-OS, ARM RealV

Performance
ASTRI ARM9E MPEG-4 HE-AAC decoder is optimized on several factors of the target ARM9E platform:
I-Cache size
D-Cache size
SDRAM speed
Availability of TCM
Please make enquires on the performance for a specific ARM9E platform.
