ASTRI's role is to act as a focal point that brings together industry, university R&D assets and a highly skilled workforce, to enhance the technological competitiveness of Hong Kong. To accomplish this mission, ASTRI has a strategic plan that focuses on people, customers and technology. Part of the credo of ASTRI is that organizational achievement and individual growth are inseparable. Similarly, the success of any applied research institute is dependent on alignment with the needs of customers and industry.

With the full support of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, ASTRI intends to become the region's most influential applied research institute by creating innovative intellectual properties, and transferring them to the technology industries related to Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta and China.
