Partnering with an international renowned Wireless chipset vendor, ASTRI researchers have developed a dual-band MIMO USB WiFi dongle for high-throughput wireless communications. Through the USB2.0 interface, the dongle can deliver multiple high-definition multimedia streams for applications on laptop, set-top box, IP camera and HDTV, etc.
Contained in a very small form factor (2x7cm), the USB dongle supports 2-transmit 2-receive MIMO applications. With the dual-band antenna, it can work at both the 2.5 GHz and 5GHz unlicensed bands. Along with IEEE 802.11n standard (draft-n), ASTRI’s joint antenna and system design has been implemented on the dongle to achieve superior performance. The dongle provides high-speed wireless transmission with a very good range. In an actual radio measurement within an indoor office environment, ASTRI’s USB dongle solution significantly outperforms other designs with similar form factor. |
